MATERIALS · THE HAUSE DECKING GUIDE

The details inside and around the board matter.

Understand caps, grooves, underside profiles and finishing roles.

Read the cap specification

A cap surrounds some or all faces of a composite board, depending on its construction. Ask how the manufacturer describes protection at the underside, grooves and cut ends. Do not assume capped means stain-proof, scratch-proof or immune to heat.

Follow the collection’s approved cleaning and handling methods. An unsupported coating or treatment may change the appearance or affect coverage.

Match the profile to its job

Grooved edges can accept specified concealed fasteners. Square edges may be used with a different fastening method or for an exposed perimeter. Solid and relieved underside profiles have product-specific applications and support requirements.

A fascia board is a finishing component, not automatically a substitute for a walking-surface board. Check fascia attachment separately.

Remove ambiguity from the order

Identify which profile goes in each area: field boards, border, stairs and trim. Confirm lengths, compatible clips, screws, plugs and any permitted routing. Ask the supplier to approve every substitution before it reaches the site.
