A warranty is conditional coverage
A stated term does not guarantee the deck’s lifespan or cover every cost. Read which failures are covered, the conditions, exclusions, prorating and claim process for the exact product and purchase date.
Residential and commercial terms can differ. Ask whether fade and stain coverage is separate from physical performance and which care or installation conditions apply.
Separate product and installer responsibilities
A replacement board warranty does not necessarily pay removal, installation, access or consequential costs. Some labour programmes have installer qualification or registration conditions. Obtain the written terms rather than treating an informal assurance as equivalent coverage.
The installer’s workmanship commitments should also be stated separately.
Keep evidence from the beginning
- Exact product identification and dated warranty.
- Invoices, delivery records and any registration confirmation.
- Installation photographs and approved components.
- Care records and the person responsible for a claim.
Resolve missing coverage before comparing two quotations by warranty length alone.
